On the First Friday of every month - throughout the year - businesses, artists, and entertainers throw a party in downtown Goshen. Hours are generally from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. This month:

Fall Arts Festival

Discover the creative arts that are part of the Goshen community!

The Fall Arts Festival kicks off Friday, 5 – 9 p.m., with art, music and dance and downtown merchant specials.

On Saturday, November 7, the Festival continues with the 2009 fall Goshen Open Studio tour, featuring area studios and galleries and the work of many area artists.

Take the self-guided tour to view current gallery exhibits, get an inside look at artists’ studios, see work in progress, and purchase original art directly from the artist.

The tour is free and open to all ages, and runs from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday.

Dr. Glen E. Miller will be available from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. to sign his newly released book, "EMPOWERING THE PATIENT: How to reduce the cost of healthcare and improve its quality." This book emphasizes a new partnership between patients and their primary physicians to achieve the goals of the title. The book has many practical suggestions. Implementing some of these suggestions saved the author $3,320 in the last 15 months without sacrificing the quality of care received.

Holiday Happenings
Holiday Happenings will take place at First United Church of Christ on Friday, November 6th from 5 to 8 pm and Saturday, November 7th from 9 am to 2 pm. Activities will include a sloppy joe dinner and bake sale on Friday night and a breakfast, luncheon, cookie walk on Saturday. Both days will include many crafters and vendors selling their items and a themed basket silent auction.

The First United Methodist Church, 214 S. Christian books and Longenberger Baskets will also be for sale. And, the FUMC Preschool parents will be having a bake sale.
