Outdoor Summer Music Series

June marks the kick-off of our Outdoor Summer Music Series with live music on the courthouse lawn and on East Washington Street.

Turn in your complete restaurant tour cards at the Goshen Historical Society Museum (124 S. Main Street) between 5 – 7 p.m.

A drawing will take place at 8 p.m. on the E. Washington Street Entertainment Stage. One lucky winner will receive a $500 coupon book to be used at the participating eateries! Five other winners will receive a $100 coupon book. The coupon book will act as cash. Must be present to win. Must be 18 or older.

Student Recital

The voice studio of Rebecca Dengler Kaufman will share a free vocal recital.  Selections will include classical and popular vocal solos and small ensembles. The high school students from Goshen and Fairfield will sing beginning at 6:00 in the church sanctuary.

As always, our facility is open to all for free refreshments and coffee, clean restrooms and free WiFi.  We are always happy to be of service to our community!

ECSA Woodwind Quintet, Children's Concert & Story Telling
RAIN LOCATION: Home Again (120 North Main, the old Kline's blg)

The Elkhart County Symphony announces a FREE Children’s Concert & Storytelling at Goshen’s First Friday (downtown Goshen) on Friday, June 4, 2010. Sponsored by the Indiana Arts Commission, the concert will feature the ECSA Woodwind Quintet as they play music interspersed with the narrated story of the Coretta Scott King award-winning children’s book, The Bat Boy and His Violin, by Gavin Curtis.  Experience the joys of baseball in 1948, as a young boy and his family learn that his gift of music can positively influence the attitude of a team, as well as adding beauty to everyone’s lives.  Performed in the children’s area on the Courthouse Lawn at 6:30 pm, the quintet will also provide a short concert after the storytelling. Members of the Woodwind Quintet are Deb Inglefield, horn; Aleksandra Kemble, flute; Kate Irelan, clarinet; Jim Nagano, oboe, and Jordan Cavitt, bassoon.

PolyKarmic Recycling

PolyKarmic Recycling Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization founded in the fall of 2009, by Chairman Timothy Huser. As a local resident and business owner with great interest in environmental issues, Huser was inspired to create PolyKarmic as a way of providing support services and education for Goshen community members in their efforts to be environmentally conscious in thought and action.

The mission of PolyKarmic is to make curbside recycling available to the residents of Goshen and work in cooperation with any existing or future recycling services in the area to make this mission a reality. It will also work to provide education as to the benefits of recycling. The organization is privately funded with any surplus revenue that might acquire during the fiscal year will be donated back to local community organizations.

Currently, PolyKarmic provides curbside pickup for the following materials: Paper (newspapers, magazines, catalogs), Corrugated Cardboard, Plastic (1 & 2), Metal (aluminum, tin, steel), and glass. There are two recycling bin options for participants to choose from; a small bin (10gal) for $5 per pickup, and a large bin (34gal) for $10 per pickup. Pickup will be on either Tuesday or Thursday depending on location. Options for businesses are also available.
