Craig Brenner & the Crawdads

FREE!

Called "a fine and funky pianist" by Living Blues, Craig Brenner has been voted "Best Musician" in Bloomington, Ind., numerous times, and The Crawdads have been rated best band.

The band's current line-up includes Craig on piano and vocal, Lori Brenner on vocal and percussion, Gordon Bonham on guitar and vocal, Joe Donnelly on sax and vocal, Jeff Chapin on drums and Neal Heidler on bass. Craig's original compositions give the group its own unique sound, as evidenced by their most recent CD, Live to Love.

The Crawdads are influenced by the music of New Orleans, particularly its distinguished line of piano players, beginning with Jelly Roll Morton and including luminaries such as Professor Longhair, Fats Domino, Dr. John and Henry Butler, among others. The band is also influenced by the R & B of the Meters and Neville Brothers, the blues of Memphis Slim and Muddy waters, and the boogie woogie of Meade Lux Lewis, Pete Johnson and Albert Ammons.
